Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has been featured in films and television and on stage, is most well-known for playing Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name upon her marriage. As a child living in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. In an Maryland high school event in her early years of education she received the award for the best actress. The path to acting began when she was employed by the Washington Ballet Company and theater. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her debut performance in a film of major importance, earned her a lot of respect. Movies such as Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark followed. Soul Food received a lot of praise for her work. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. Earlier in the career, she was in numerous stage productions. Parker is engaged to Boris Kodjoe, an actor and model. Both have two kids.
Contractor was born from Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She was already exposed to numerous travel experiences and cultures from a early age. At the age of seven to nine, the young lady went to boarding school in London. The family later relocated to Toronto where she lived for most of her childhood. Contractor was a student and an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. At the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school that specializes in the arts), Contractor studied both ballet and theater. Contractor took the decision to study acting seriously at age of 16, after ten years of dancing. When she graduated from high-school, she was offered a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor was offered the lead role in Pericles following a brief time at the University. She was a part of the audition for it in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. After 92 performances, she received glowing reviews. The play was deemed the best production in Canada by critics. Contractor accepted an invitation to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. Only eight men selected and four females accepted to a course of 20 weeks in the classical theatre. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season and was given the part of Hermia.
